THE LOST SYMBOL

REVEALED

The sculpture, titled "Kryptos," the Greek word for "hidden," includes an undulating sheet of copper with a message devised by the sculptor, Jim Sanborn, and Edward M. Scheidt, a retired chairman of the C.I.A.'s cryptographic center.

The message is broken into four sections, and in 1999, a computer programmer named Jim Gillogly announced he had figured out the first three, which include poetic ramblings by the sculptor and an account of the opening of King Tut's tomb. The C.I.A. then announced that one of its physicists, David Stein, had also deciphered the first three sections a year earlier.

 

2006 clarification  of  the LOST SYMBOL of Kryptos…   X ??


On April 19, 2006, Sanborn contacted the Kryptos group (an online community dedicated to the Kryptos puzzle) to inform them that the accepted solution to part 2 was wrong. He had removed a single character THE LOST SYMBOL from the cipher text for aesthetic reasons. An accidental result of this change was that plaintext that should have decoded as "X LAYER TWO" had been mistakenly decoded as "ID BY ROWS".

The impact of this change on attempts to solve part 4 is not currently known. Sanborn (the sculpture’s artist) has implied that there may be a connection, as solvers "were in fact, missing a clue."

 

So like in some Indiana Jones story, the artist is making a bit of joke:  X MARKS THE SPOT.  Which some have conjectured to be the location of something buried at specific coordinates on the CIA grounds themselves. Possibly the key to Section 4 which has not been decoded or more likely something that conveys the meaning of the riddle within a riddle that the artist referred to in countless interviews? It jives with the coordinates that were hinted at on the cover of the Da Vinci Code.

 

Here’s the part of Section II: (Note some words were  misspelled on purpose.)

  Also hidden in the Da Vinci Code were the letters  WW which stand for former CIA director William Webster who was allegedly given the solution to the code by the artist.

Te baccket of The Da Vinci Code includes text printed backward. When held to a mirror, it reads, "Only WW knows," referring to a passage taken from Kryptos indicating that only one person knows what may be buried on the CIA grounds. "WW" refers to former CIA director William Webster, who received an envelope from sculptor Jim Sanborn containing the solution to Kryptos. But Sanborn says that even Webster doesn't know -- when he gave the solution to Webster, he left out some crucial parts.

Sanborn's description of "Covert Balance": "This piece was inspired by the Kryptos piece I did at the C.I.A. Headquarters.  It depicts two opposing encoded texts, one relating to C.I.A. covert operations and the other to K.G.B. operations.  The two text panels are separated by a petrified tree which was burned before petrifaction.  Its present location at the Hirshhorn museum on the mall between the U.S. Capitol Building and the Washington Monument seems to be ultimately appropriate."

THE LOST SYMBOL.  Dan Brown states that nothing will be as it appears, which means that ,like the Kryptos code, his secrets will be many layered, a trail like in Angels and Demons that Langdon must follow to save the girl no doubt and save the world.
 
But what are these other symbols.  Dan Brown has already given us many hints in The Da Vinci Code and the Challenge Internet games.  Some of those symbols were answers, remember them?
The the layout of Washington D.C. is mirrored in the Heavens some say, much like the pyramids of Egypt are alinement with the stars above. 
 
The symbols are the Chi-Rho, the ANHK, VIRGO, and the Washington Monument and Reflecting Pool.  Dan Brown has already hinted at these symbols and he will have Langdon discover a lost codex of Leonardo Da Vinci which will probably be based upon the Key of Solomon the King.
There are so far-out speculations about the this 16th century(not actually written by King Solomon in fact) book of spells and incantations.  The problem is that the Keys of Solomons are not ancient at all.  And there are many versions of them in Hebrew, Greek, Italian, French and Latin.  No scholar worth his salt believes any of them are truly ancient works but rather a hodge-podge of collected works whose symbols and wording was changed by each author.
So if Dan Brown trys to say that Leonardo discovered an ancient parchment, he's telling tall tales, which is okay. It's FICTION!
First the CHI-RHO symbol.

Wayne Herschel believes the LOST SYMBOL is simply the cross found in the Orion Belt, visible by the ancients, found in only one specific version of a Solomon Key Talisman or Pentacle, and a clue to our origins. Hmmm. Only problem is the conjunction is July 4th and Brown is releasing THE LOST SYMBOL on Sept. 15 three days before the 18th, the date of George Washington’s inaugural parade.

 

Wayne Herschel claims to use the “real or original” Key of Solomon and cites this link to where you can see it on the Internet.  http://www.esotericarchives.com/solomon/ksol.htm By scrolling toward the bottom of the page. What he fails to mention is that earlier this rendition of a the Holy Pentacles is explained as also being from most likely the 1600’s not some ancient origional Hebrew text at all.

 Herschel also refers to the French title of 

an eighteenth-century manuscript of Les vrais clavicules du roi Salomon, translated from the Hebrew (dubious at best since there is no Hebrew version found anywhere), which was sold in Paris in 1921. Again, like all the other Keys of Solomon it dates to only about the 16th century.  It was studied by S. L. Mathers when he translated the Greater Key of Solomon the King but Mathers left out the section that names the demons cited by Herschel because he concluded they were a later addition to the text.

 

From Wikepedia: The clavicles of Solomon the King is the title of a manual of magic which was first published in 1825 in Paris. Okay, so what's the big deal. Well the truth is that none of the various Keys of Solomon can be dated back to the time of King Solomon period. Here's some more factual history about the grimoires.

Even another named the TRUE GRIMOIRE or Grimorium Verum was a later work  written in French and Italian.

 

Gollancz, 1914.

Facsimile published by Gollancz as Sepher Maphteah Shelomoh (Book of the Key of Solomon) (Oxford, 1914). The manuscript dates to around 1700. G. Scholem edited the text in 'Some Sources of Jewish-Arabic Demonology', in Journal of Jewish Studies, xvi (1965). It contains a large number of Greek (such as Sabaoth), Latin, and Italian elements. Also has Christian elements, such as the use of a cross put in holy water (fol. 37a, cited by Rohrbacher-Sticker in 'A Hebrew Manuscript of Clavicula Salomonis, Part II. in the British Library Journal, Vol. 21, 1995, pp. 132.) It is probably (as Scholem puts it) a late adaptation of a 'Latin (or rather Italian) Clavicula text of the renaissance period' (ibid p. 6.).

And the G. Scholem who edited this text is none other than the famous Hebrew scholar better known for his work on explaining the Kabbalah. So if he says it is not an ancient pentacle actually written by King Solomon we should take his word for it.

 

Further, Mr. Herschel’s theory states that the demons names or the daemons (listed in the Key of Solomon)are actually code for certain stars and constellations.

 

First of all, the Greater Key of Solomon doesn’t list the names of demons. It has tables of what are called correspondences to: Arch Angels, Planets, the Elements and Planetary Hours. No demons.

 

In fact, it’s another version known as the Lesser Key of Solomon that lists names of demons but it is also not ancient at all.

The Lesser Key of Solomon or Clavicula Salomonis (the Clavis Salomonis, or Key of Solomon is an earlier book on the subject), is an anonymous 17th century grimoire, and one of the most popular books of demonology. It has also long been widely known as the Lemegeton.

It appeared in the 17th century, but much was taken from texts of the 16th century, including the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, by Johann Weyer, and late-medieval grimoires. It is likely that books by Jewish kabbalists and Muslim mystics were also inspirations. Some of the material in the first section, concerning the summoning of demons, dates to the 14th century or earlier.

The book claims that it was originally written by King Solomon, although this is certainly incorrect. The titles of nobility (such as the French Marquis or Germanic Earl) assigned to the demons were unknown in his time, as were the prayers to Jesus and the Christian Trinity included in the text.

And besides, the diagrams of the demons are more typical of those found in other 14th through 16th century grimoires or books of so-called Black Magick.

Part one is called the ARS GOETIA  (Arts … Ancient Greek γοητεία (goēteia) means "charm, jugglery"[1] from γόης "sorcerer, wizard"[2]. Also The word may be ultimately derived from the verb γοάω "groan, bewail.)

 To make these grimoires more mysterious and authentic in origion, it was common practise to attribute them to some famous magi or adept like King Solomon, or in a few cases evern popes--like Honorus! Early attempts at hype and spin marketing were used by the authors of these secret tomes on magick.

 

I have nothing against Mr. Herschel at all. But the reader should know the truth behind the alleged but not ancient Hebrew texts he uses to make his point. It is a typical fiction writer's method of first coming up with a plot device or theory and then, finding whatever evidence you can to support the concept. But that's not what real historians do is it? I would hope that this time out the critics of Dan Brown will stop accusing him of bending history because he like myself is just a novelist not actually some Harvard Symbolist, a term that has no basis in fact itself!

Is THE LOST SYMBOL CHI-RHO or X Marks the Spot!!

Chi Rho are the first two letters (chi = ch and rho = r) in the Greek spelling of the word Christ ( Greek : "Χριστός" ), and so have come to be used for a number of usages.

  • The two letters can be superimposed to produce the monogram (), which is one of the earliest Christograms (see Chi Rho monogram).
  • The name Chi Rho is also used to indicate the Labarum, a military banner of Roman emperors, which exhibited the monogram since Constantine I's time.
  • The Chi-Rho emblem: the first Christian Cross
  • "As a pre-Christian symbol, the Chi-ro signified good fortune. The Chi ro became an important Christian symbol when adopted by the Roman Emperor Constantine, representing the first two letters in the name of Christ- the Chi, or 'ch,' and Rho, or 'r.' According to Church Father Eusebius, on the eve of the Battle of the Milvan Bridge, the Emperor saw the emblem in a dream, with the inscription, "By this sign, you shall conquer." According to the story, the battle was won. In return for the victory, Constantine erected Christian churches. Unfortunately, this story is very unlikely, as Constantine's conversion occured on his deathbed, if at all. In any case, the symbol was the standard of the Emperor's army, prominently displayed on the Emperor's labarum, or battle standard.
  • Before it became the monogram of Christ, the chi rho was the monogram of Chronos, the god of time, and an emblem of several solar deities.
  • The Chi-ro is also the origin of the tradition of abbreviating "Christ" in "christian" or "Christmas" to "X."
  • In Hebrew, Chi-Rho equates to Tav-Resh. The chi rho was used in hermetic alchemical texts to denote time."  Unbiased symbolists like the fictional Langdon have shown that the cross in various forms long predates Christianity. Assyrian gods, even Ba’al where represented by it. It closely aligns with Sun worship: the sun wheel with only the four spokes, the Roman Holiday Sol Invitus has for its first letter … X or xpovus, Saturn.

Okay, so we have explored the LOST SYMBOL, the missing X symbol left out of the Kryptos sculpture. We explored the symbols for the Divine Goddess, Venus and the symbols of the Chi-rho and the Anhk. We explored how the coordinates of Google and GPS lead us to the buried treasure at the CIA.  How the artist's design of the Masonic compass points the way...
So what's left.  Well we all know about the alleged pentegram and the owl and how some say the streets of our Captital are form the outline of the Great Pyramid and its inner chambers.
But there is that big pesky symbol that is out there, the one that is staring us right in the face, the one that symbolizes the fundemental principle of the Masons and Gnostics and the
Goddess worshipers...
So what is it?

Think of the logo at the begining of every Columbia Pictures film.  It's a Goddess dressed in blue! ringed by a crown of Stars.  The answer is the larget ANHK symbol hidden by its sheer size, the conjoining of the male and female principle for enlightenment and higher understanding.

I would suspect that Dan Brown has Landgon reflect upon this point as he stands gazing intently at the Washington Monument.

Last month, while in Florence, Professor Langdon uncovered an ancient parchment that historians now believe may be the work of Leonardo da Vinci. The encoded parchmentbearing the name La Profezia (The Prophecy)raised eyebrows when scholars discovered it was signed "LSPDV." (Leonardo's full name was Leonardo Ser Pieri Da Vincio).

More intriguing still is the legend that the visionary Leonardo, in the days before his death, made a powerful prophecy about the future. Could this be Da Vinci's long lost prediction? Historians remain eager to learn what this parchment says. The code has yet to reveal its mystery, but Robert Langdon is very close to finding the key to deciphering the message.
Leonardo's encoded message consists of 24 symbols. Robert Langdon is certain there exists a key, and he is working very hard to find it.

The "Sacred Geometry" of the Masonic layout of streets in Washington, D.C., will most likely lead Brown's Professor Langdon to discover that Fort Marcy Park lies along the same line as that made by the National Mall, which lies between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, and that extending that line almost all the way across the United States would pass directly through the Mormon Tabernacle Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. (Oddly, the Mormon Tabernacle is closed to the public throughout 2006.) Even more eerie, a line drawn from the Washington Monument to Rock Creek Park, where the body of Chandra Levy, a attractive Jewish woman who was a federal Bureau of Prisons intern and the secret lover of a Congressman, was found in 2002, would, if extended, pass through the Scottish Rite Freemasonic Center in D.C., as well as through Freemason's Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Above Levy's name is handwritten the words "Shari Eli." Perhaps a character name? Chandra is Sanskrit for "light," that which Masons claim to seek.

One of the strangest pages may be this list of statues and monuments in the Washington, D.C. area, with perplexing phrases after them:

  • D.C. Masonic Temple — Irish ale
  • Jeff Memorial — A fenced in miser
  • Albert Pike statue — Fresh cad onto a monk
  • Persephone statue on Capitol — Hi, Israel
  • Geo. Washington Masonic Memorial — Print a rug, Ben
  • Washington Obelisk — Accords femmes


Notes: The last one may refer to the Washington Monument. "Accords femmes" translates from French into "women's agreements."

George Washington and Albert Pike were both Freemasons, as was Ben Franklin, who may be the "Ben" referenced in one of the phrases. "Ben" may also refer to the character Ben Gates in the film National Treasure.

The message of the Georgia Guidestones, written in English, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Spanish, and Swahili is:

  1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
  2. Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.
  3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
  4. Rule passion — faith — tradition — and all things with tempered reason.
  5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
  6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
  7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
  8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
  9. Prize truth — beauty — love — seeking harmony with the infinite.
  10. Be not a cancer on the earth — Leave room for nature — Leave room for nature.
